It's Saturday!!!

The best day of the week!! Zindagi ka mazaa toh saturday mein hai.

It's the first day of the weekend. It's better than Friday: the new released movies are already seen and reviewed by others; I can choose which one I want to spend my time and money on. And everyone knows it's better than Sunday; one doesn't dread the next day.

On a Saturday, I can procrastinate all the chores for Sunday, and spend all my day doing all those things I don't allow myself to do for the entire week. I sleep late, eat unhealthy things, go for a bike ride, climb a hill, watch TV shows/movies on my laptop for hours, and ask stupid hypothetical questions to my flat-mate. All the rules of the entire week don't apply on Saturday.

Even when I was in school, Saturday was either a half-day, or a holiday, or the day when the House Meeting used to take place. The only day my dad used to let me the watch the late-night movie on Doordarshan. In short, a fun day!

And I am not exaggerating in my love for this day. Saturday has a special status in many countries:

Saturday is the official day of rest in Israel, on which all government offices and most businesses, including some public transportation, are closed. It's the only day on which elections can be held in New Zealand.

In Sweden, Saturday is usually the only day of the week when children are allowed to eat sweets. In countries where Vampire Stories are part of folklore, Saturday was the preferred day to hunt vampires, because on that day they were supposedly sleeping in their coffins. Wait, does that make me a vampire?

Saturday night is also a popular time slot for comedy shows on television. Apna Kapil bhi toh Saturday ko aata hai.

Saturday is the day of opportunities, connecting with yourself, and with friends. Rehndi hai kudi saturday saturday kardi.

If there's a 'Gunda' in me, it surely comes out on Saturday. With the regular life-style of a working professional, I guess Saturday is the only day to let loose, to let my imagination go wild (as wild as it can for a day!).

And if the rest of days are reading this post as I write, please don't mind. It's just that today is a Saturday, and I was in a good mood. If it had been a Tuesday today, I am very sure I would have blabbered as much about it as well.

Another day, another post, I say.

P.S: There's a famous phrase: 'Ladies First'. Do they also mean that "in the bed"?
