Well actually, the quote mentioned above isn't mine. Kiran Bir Sethi said it, in her talk at TED-INDIA, in MYSORE 2009. And her talk was one of the videos that we shared with “inspired” juniors who attended the first chapter of what could be a BIG CONTAMINANT in the history of DAVIET.
DET (DAVIET Embracing Technology) – as my good friend Karanjeet Singh named it, was an inspired idea that infected me and Mr. Ankur Khera around Monday, 5 April. So much inspiring ideas just a click away, and yet our college students are unaware of that. Some discussion with INCOGNITO think tank, an application, and two signatures later, we had the permission for the first “weekend” initiative of INCOGNITO. We announced in the first two years, and expected a large participation.
So, today, 10 o'clock, the doors of Convention Hall opened for the real owners – the students, and we began with the interactive session, keeping videos of TED talks as our base. We didn't receive a huge participation, but that meant we had to work double hard, to 'infect' the small bunch so that they could go and 'infect' others. What exactly happened there, is between us and the select few who did what most of their friends did not – break the monotony, got up on a holiday, and take their initial step towards creating the highly wanted ‘atmosphere' in DAVIET. But that's ok. Quality matters more than quantity, and we will keep the content ‘secret'. ;) What say friends?
So much was their interest in the various technologies that the session went on till 4 o'clock, well beyond the time we had any idea for. It was a real encouraging response.
We received tremendously generous feedback (some moved us, and we promise to share them next time) and everyone present there promised to be contagious for their friends and classmates. Let's see how much they stick to it.
It's around 8 in the evening right now, and I am still thinking about all those who did come for DET. Well, thank you so much friends, for you made our effort a success. Keep it up, guys and girls, and stay tuned! Keep your ears and eyes open for any kind of student activity in DAVIET.
And, in the process, as Rhonda Bryne says, “FEEL GOOD! :)”! Now just give a smile to yourself. :)
P.S.: What does the God reply when students complain, “Student activities?!?! Yahan DAVIET mein kuch nahi ho sakta!”?
GOD says, “OK! Your Wish Is My Command!”
